SCHEDULE:
THIS COURSE:
Yoga is for every body type and every person. You will learn how to teach all different types of body and abilities. The training is divided into three parts.
During the first weekend, you will meet Lezanne and Heather the course leaders who have been running Yoga Teacher Trainings from their School in Barcelona for over 10 years. During the weekend you will review the alignment and explore the yoga styles they teach delving into the anatomy of yoga. You will also have the opportunity to start to structure and schedule the online components of your course with the course leaders so they fit your needs; all this while connecting with other students on the course and enjoying a relaxing weekend by the beach.
After the first weekend, we will hold live online sessions to cover topics such as philosophy, chakras, and the business of yoga. The dates and times for these sessions will be discussed and finalized during the first weekend. These online sessions will take place in October and December.
At the retreat center, the daily schedule generally starts with a vinyasa asana practice, including pranayama breathing, lasting 1.5 to 2 hours. This may also include meditation. Afterward, there will be a short break for breakfast. The morning sessions will focus on alignment or theory topics, such as philosophy, chakras, Ayurveda, adjustments, anatomy, and sequencing. Days will begin at 7:00 AM and end at 6:00 PM, with a lunch break around 1:00 PM.
All meals during the course are vegan and will be lovingly prepared by Yasmin. Please inform us of any food allergies when you sign up for the training.
During the November week, we will explore different styles of yoga, adjustments, and practice teaching. The final week in January will focus on practicing your 60-minute sequences and preparing for both the theory and practical exams.
When time permits, Heather will also cover yoga for athletes, while Lezanne will discuss yoga as therapy, addressing various health concerns. The training will feature 3-4 instructors, including Abi, our local yoga teacher, who will assist with alignment and lead some yoga classes. Additionally, guest teachers from the UK may join the sessions.
Lezanne and Heather bring a balanced yin-and-yang approach to teaching yoga. Lezanne, often referred to as “Mother Earth,” has exceptional knowledge of philosophy, biomechanics, and nearly every aspect of yoga. Heather complements this with her practical focus on the business side of yoga, drawing from her background in sales and marketing. Heather is also a yoga business coach and is happy to answer any questions about your future career.
There are two assessments in this course. The first is a written theory test, and the second is a 60- to 75-minute practical test where you will design and teach your own vinyasa sequence, including adjustments and the use of props. You will have an opportunity to practice teaching your 60-minute sequence before the final exam.
By the end of this course, you will feel confident in your ability to teach yoga to friends and family with ease.
