Guy Reid – Filmmaker, Visionary, and Advocate for Planetary Consciousness

Guy Reid is an award-winning filmmaker, producer, and co-founder of Planetary Collective, a visionary initiative exploring humanity’s relationship with Earth, consciousness, and the cosmos. His work seamlessly integrates science, spirituality, and storytelling to inspire a global shift towards planetary stewardship and deeper awareness.

Guy’s cinematic contributions have gained international recognition, with his groundbreaking Cosm project becoming the first-ever film shot in 24K resolution—a monumental achievement that earned him the Producer’s Guild of America Award for Innovation in Production, one of Hollywood’s highest honors. His acclaimed films, The Overview Effect and We Are Planetary, explore the profound shift in consciousness experienced by astronauts seeing Earth from space, inspiring a reimagining of our place in the universe.

Beyond filmmaking, Guy is deeply committed to cultivating living Dhamma communities, uniting scientific, artistic, and contemplative dimensions to foster a new way of being. He draws inspiration from his deep roots in the Nyingma tradition and the teachings of Ringu Tulku Rinpoche, Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche, and the 16th Karmapa. His ongoing collaboration with David Loy, author of EcoDharma, highlights the intersection of Buddhism and ecological responsibility, emphasizing the urgent need for conscious planetary action.

Currently, Guy is working on multiple visionary projects, including:

  • Eden Project Collaboration – Partnering with Eden Labs in Cornwall to create a secret stupa at humanity’s genetic birthplace, uniting spiritual and ecological regeneration.
  • Nomos Film – A Baraka-like documentary exploring the interconnectedness of life on Earth, weaving together the wisdom of indigenous cultures, scientific discovery, and deep meditative insight.
  • Living Zero – A documentary chronicling the rebuilding of the Palisades in Los Angeles, supported by key industry figures including James Cameron, exploring regenerative living and sustainable communities.

His passion extends beyond film into the practical development of ecovillages and regenerative communities, and we hope to be networking Guy and Planetary Collective with experts such as May East and Gaia Education to support the establishment of inspired sustainable living spaces.

Guy will be joining Healweb’s Dhamma Practice Weekends, offering exclusive film screenings, discussions, and explorations into how film and storytelling can serve as powerful tools for awakening. While his schedule keeps him engaged globally, he feels a deep samaya—a sacred commitment—to projects that honor and cultivate the living Dhamma.

We are honored to host Guy as he shares his vision for planetary consciousness, blending ancient wisdom with cutting-edge technology to help shape a more awakened, compassionate world.
